Some of the younger ones may have been named for the local sheriff, but not the older ones. Liston Dennis was born 1830--Sheriff Burris was only 15 then! Liston Culver was born 1842--in 1850 Liston Burris was a shoemaker in Westland Twp, not sheriff! No, there's some other connection between this group of families. The common link seems to be Adams (Waller m. Adams, Dennis m. Adams, Culver m. Adams), but how do the Adamses connect to the Burrises? Must be some connection because Zachariah Burris had a son named Ashford--and Jacob Dennis/Hannah Adams named their sons Liston AND Ashford!

I think the Mary Ann Adams b. ca. 1772 in PA is the key--she's living with Jacob Dennis (and his second wife) in 1850, and I think she's the Mary Ann Adams who sold property to William G. Waller. But who was her husband? Where in PA did they come from? I need Adams info!
