THE SECREST-FISHEL FAMILIES
The Fishel family is of German origin but was undoubtedly in America before the outbreak of the Revolutionary war, for Philip Fishel was born in Virginia in 1776. Oct. 2, 1806, he married Rebecca Secrest, daughter of Frederick and Catherine Secrest. She was born in May 1788, and after giving him six children, four girls and two boys, she died in May 1820. She and the two sons are buried by the side of her parents in the Hebron cemetery (Lutheran) on the west bank of the Capon River. In July 1820, Mr. Fishel married Catherine Trenner, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Secrest) Trenner, a niece of his first wife, and they soon after brought the four little girls and came to Ohio, settling near Pleasant City. Mr. Fishel died May 6, 1842, but his second wife, who was born Sept. 7, 1793, lived till Feb. 15, 1876. The children of the first marriage have the date of birth and christening recorded in the church records of the Lutheran Hebron church, Hampshire county, Va. The old family Bible, printed in German and bound in leather-covered boards with two heavy clasps, is nearly good as new and is in the possession of the venerable Philip Fishel, of Pleasant city. The children of the Fishel family:

4. Elizabeth Fishel born May 23, 1812-married William Lyons.
5. Mary Fishel, born Aug. 20, 1814-married Abraham Secrest.
6. Sarah Fishel born Dec. 24, 1816-died July 30, 1890-married Ezekiel Robins.

Hello,
First of all I'll answer your question about a birth certificate for Dr Langley. You would have to write to the Probate Clerk of the county where he was born. The State of Ohio does not have birth records that early. The County might.....

Peter Langley married Rachel Bichard. He was born about 1795 in Guernsey and died in Guernsey County, Ohio in 1875. His children were Peter b 1826 mar Rachel Fishel: Thomas born 1829; John b 1833; James b 1839; Elizabeth b 1842 and Christenia b 1842 mar Joseph B Schofield. This from Marion Turk's book the Quiet Adventurers to North America.

<<The Quiet Adventurers in North America.
"Marion G. Turk. The Channel Islands, primarily Guernsey and Jersey, contributed greatly to the influx of immigrants to the American colonies and the young United States. The bulk of this work is a genealogical dictionary which identifies thousands of known (or probable) Channel Island immigrants to America, and some of their descendants. One section gives brief sketches of well-known Americans who had Island roots. This printing is a reprint of the 1984 edition with the addition of six pages of corrections and additions. (1984) reprint, 724 pp., 1 vol. in 2, illus., paper">>>

You might write to the Priaux Library in St Peter Port, ask them to do a search for the birth of Peter Langlois in 1795.
Thank You

Comments: I am researching PETER LANGLEY b. abt 1795-6 Isle of Guernsey. I wonder if you might have a birth record for him. Peter Langley married Rachel Bichard. He was born about 1795 in Guernsey and died in Guernsey County, Ohio in 1875. It is possible his name could have been LANGLOIS if LANGLEY is not a common name in Guernsey. Naturally I am hoping to find out who PETER LANGLEY's parents were.
