I'd like to introduce a new resource for genealogist, the Miami Valley Inventors Historical Database. Wright State University is one of 86 United States Patent and Trademark Office supported depository libraries in the country.
This finding aid contains bibliographic information on over 1800 patents, including biographical notes of a few inventors, cities and towns, attorneys of record, estate administrators, and assignments. There are over 4000 names in the database. At a future date we will be adding witnesses. The database covers the period 1814-1875 for an 11 county region around Dayton, OH : Butler, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Warren counties.
