I am not absolutely certain. However of one thing I am sure, the pension file is for my gg grandfather. It says that he ran away to the war when he was about 14. He reports that he was born 2 Aug 1847. It is also reported that he had light hair and complexion and blue eyes. However the person I believe is the same person in the 1850 census in Columbus is shown to be mulatto. I am open to the facts wherever they lead.

In addition to Charles Barnett Tolliver of Columbus there was a Charles Toliver a black man who lived in Lawrence County, Ohio.

I have ordered the complete file from the National Archives but it will be a month before I have it.

I really appreciate your kind offer. What repository do you access to?
