My 4X great grandfather was Andrew Short of Virginia; or at least thats what later census showed. The first record of proof I have is when he married Leantha Thomas on Dec 28 1827 in Ross Co Ohio. I have no record of his ancestory before this date. His father-in-law was Younger Thomas and he and Leantha Short had 10 kids before they moved to Iowa in 1849-50 and settled in Clarke Co Iowa In your records do you have any record of children and or sibblins of your James Short? My andrew was born in 1789 according to census taken in later years which would make him about 38 when marring Leantha in Jefferson Twsp Ross Co.
