Rev. Thomas was my g-grandfather. I have him in 1909 being affiliated with the Allegheny Baptist General Association as a minister from Washington Courthouse who is giving his introductory sermon at a church in PA during their annual meeting. Would there have been any Baptist or Black Baptist churches in the Washington Courthouse area during that period? Outside of Wilberforce and Payne, are there any colleges or universities in that area that I am missing where he could have attended college and gotten his higher education? His family originally was from VA and came to Zanesville around 1880 when he was 12, and it is not until 1892, that he shows up in PA and by this time he is already a pastor. I believe in the 1900 census he is in Urbana, Champaign, OH with wife, Sarah, and children and his occupation is listed as a minister. By the time of his death in 1939 in Youngstown he is listed as the "Dean of Colored Ministers".
