Hello,
I think that John C. Newland may be a son of Jacob and Martha (Maloney) Newland of Frederick Co. Va. and Fayette Co. Oh. They married in Frederick Co, 1806. Jacob's probate in Fayette county, Ohio, 1840 lists a son named John. I don't think he could be a son of Jacob's probable siblings who also lived in Fayette County.
