Nicholas & Priscilla (Murphy) Newland + Gano & McCulley

The IGI shows Nicholas Newland, b. 1785, Frederick Co., VA as son of John & Margaret (Weir) Newland. Frederick Co., VA m. records note John & Margaret Newland were m. 20 Sep 1788 which does not agree with IGI date.
Nicholas & Priscilla left VA after the birth of Mary, 10 Jul 1808 and settled in or near Good Hope, Fayette Co. Children: Mary Newland, m. Samuel Gano, 1829; John Newland, b. ca 1816, m. Rachel McCulley, 1838 and Phoebe Newland, b. ca. 1818, m. Robert Gano. All were m. in Fayette Co. per IGI.
The IGI Pedigree chart on Nicholas Newland lists his father, John, b. 29 Sept 1757, Easton, Bristol, MA and mother, Margaret, b. 28 Mar 1759, b. Middlebrook, Augusta Co., VA & shows m. date as 7 Jun 1780. One is incorrect unless divorce was involved.
Descendants of John Newland have access to a Fraktur which has been interpreted to show John's birth as 29 Sep. 1752.
I am particularly interested in RACHEL McCULLEY and her family since other clues may prove the existing theory. Any help relating to Newland or Gano also appreciated.
