I'm not a relative, but I do live nearby, just outside of Fairfield County.Thurston is in Walnut Tp.I know of a cemetery just southeast of Thurston, located on Ruffner Dr.This may or may not be where your ancestors are buried.
In Ohio, death records began being kept in 1867 and were taken care of by the county the death occured in.This went on until 1908/1909, when the state took over the job.Unfortunately there is no statewide index up until 1908/1909.You would have to go to the courthouse in Fairfield County in order to get the death records. Also, just a heads up, 1800s death records didn't tend to reveal too much. They weren't like today's death certificates. They were usually just a one-lined entry in a ledger.
Good luck!At least it's somewhere to start :)
