There was an orphanage in Sandusky, Erie Co., Ohio called the Children's Home on Sycamore Line (my husband had a relative (child) that lived at this home who was accidentally killed by another boy living there when they found a shotgun, this was about 1919 (will find newspaper article to confirm date if necessary). There was another in the area called Gore Orphanage near Elyria and Flat Rock Children's Home in Flat Rock, Ohio. Not sure when they all closed up...if you need to know I could check the city directory for the one in Sandusky. Hope this helps you.
