David Sherwood (10/27/1802 - 01/23/1873) and Margaret Bishop Sherwood (08/17/1802 - 07/12/1876) were Jonathan's parents. Jonathan was born 12/03/1835 and died 01/06/1863). He married Melissa Mason (01/08/1838 - 02/15/1862) on 10/14/1858. They had two children: Emma (16/12/1859 - 01/03/1881), and Mary (11/28/1860 - Unknown). Jonathan was killed in combat while serving in Company "C", 26 OVI at the battle of Stone's River, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Information on birth dates of children comes from Pension Application #25092 (Minors), Certificate #10,973 (Minors, filed by Rev. L.B. Sherwood (Jonathan's brother) on children's behalf, June 12, 1863. Pension awarded in 1868. Marriage from Delaware County Marriage Records. Death dates substantiated by grave stones in Marlboro Cemetery, Delaware County, Ohio. I am a 3rd Great Grandson of David & Margaret Bishop Sherwood. I am descended through David-Levi B.-George Lewis-Hoy Petty-and Leon Saul Sherwood. Other family names I'm researching are Bishop, Wornstaff, Petty, Dix, Saul, Weisenauer, Kagy, Lee, Whitmer/Whittemore, and Main. Have a great deal of information on Sherwoods and allied families which I'd be willing to share. Would be interested in Mason Genealogy as I know litle about Melissa's family.
