I help others, becaue it is a purely selfesh reason. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I am able to help them over their 'brick walls'.

About 35 years ago, my father handd me an envelope, with about 35 names and partial dates on it, and he told me that his mother had given it to him, and that it had been given to her by her husband's grandmother. (That woman was Sarah/Sally Smith Baker, my ggg-grandmother. She was born about 1768 in Sussex Co,. DE and died in 1872 in Jackson Twp., Grove City, Franklin Co., OH.

It took me about two days, to sort the names out, and realize that it was the two wives of James Baker, the son of Sally and Purnell Baker, and the 15 children from these two marriages.

Wanting to see if I was right, I went to the library, and started looking at census, and realized how good it felt, when I was right on every single name.

Then my mother's cousin's husband, gave me an index box, with index cards of the people in my mother's father's line.

That was the start of my research. I now have ovr 35,000 names in my data base. Everyone is either related to my husband's lines, his step mother's lines or my own lines. When I come upon a new line, I go out as far on the tree branch as I can, just to be able to help other's who might be looking for someone that I have in my data base.

Last July, I lost my husband of 44 years, and now even more than before, genealogy is my therapy and my therapist.

I lived in Delaware Co. for almost 8 years, and lived in Genoa Twp. I now live in Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

If you run into any other brick walls, that you are having trouble breaking down, let me know. I will do what I can to help.

Never stop leaping. If for nothing else, just to keep the blood gushing through your veins and thanking God that you are alive and ABLE to do so.
