Cummins, Delaware County

I am interested in exchanging information with anyone who is researching the CUMMINS families from Delaware County, Ohio.

The CUMMINS I am most interested in is Joshua W, who was born between 1833 and 1835 in Delaware County, according to his Civil War pension file.

Joshua married Amy Ann PIERCE in Erie County, and is found in the 1860 Ohio Census in Lucas County, Swanton Township with her and their three children, Hosea B, Susan and Simeon. He gives his age at 27 in 1860. He also has Susan CUMMINS, age 70 and David WARREN, age 65 living with him there. They were listed as being born in Vermont. Joshua W states in the 1880 Nebraska census that his father and mother were born in Vermont. So Susan may be his mother or grandmother or possibly an aunt.

Amy Ann, Joshua's wife died after 1865, which I determined also from the 1880 Nebraska census and the Civil War pension file. Joshua is remarried, and living in Burt County with his wife Julia, two younger sons, Clark and Ralph W, as well as his stepson, Charles COWLES and an adopted child, Carrie.

If anyone has any information on this line of the CUMMINS family, please contact me. I have found many descendants of this Joshua and we are all eager to find more cousins!

Thank you!
