Sometime between the 1830 & 1840 census, Amplias BARTON migrated from Harford County, MD to Trenton Twp, Delaware Co, OH. A search of the Bureau of Land Management's, Patent search site indicates that he DID NOT patent land. Perhaps he inherited his land, I can't learn anything on him or this county from the GenWeb county site. (The last query posted to that site was in 1999! For genealogical purposes the site appears long dead and buried.) I hope that someone here may be able to assist me. In the 1840 Census for Delaware County, Ohio there were eight BARTON households. I cannot find a map that will give me any useful information that might tell if the Oxford, Trenton, and Berkshire Twp.s were even close to each other. The BARTONs of Oxford Twp. were from Bucks County, PA. Amplias BARTON was from Harford County, MD. Where were Jackson, Orson & Roger BARTON from? A search of the BARTON forum produced no hits, whatsoever, on any of the names Amplias, Jackson, Orson, or Roger BARTON in OHIO. None of these BARTONs received land patents from the US Gov't. in this county. What was the attraction? Amplias died in this county (1865) and is buried in Trenton, somewhere. None of the other three BARTONs, in Berkshire, appear to have remained in the county - where did they go? Any help from this group will be appreciated. I have no hope of solving this with the resources at hand.
