We have John Arthur Shields who married at age 18 in Darke Co., OH to (1) Eunice Alberta McNutt.
They were the parents of Walter R., Elmer Murray, Mabel/Mable M., and Glyda Shields.
John Arthur Shields married (2) Luie/Lou (maiden name unknown)
They were parents of Joyce E. and Paul B. Shields.
Then we have Wiley/Willey Shields, s/o William Shields and Anna Marie Hathaway.
Wiley/Willey married Elizabeth M. McNutt, who is believed to have been the sister of Eunice Alberta McNutt.
It appears that Wiley/Willey and Elizabeth had no children.
However, in 1920 Mabel/Mable M. was residing with Wiley/Willey Shields and Elizabeth and listed as niece.
In 1930 and beyond Glyda is residing with Elizabeth, widow of Wiley/Willey Shields and listed as daughter.
I believe the connection of niece lies with the McNutt family.
John Arthur Shields' parents are unknown, but he does not appear to be a s/o William Shields and Anna Marie Hathaway as Wiley/Willey is.
John Arthur Shields was born in Illinois, but evidently returns with or without his father to Darke Co., OH where he marries Eunice and takes up residency. John Arthur was evidently under age when he married, so the marriage application is said to have been made by a Joseph Shields, whose relationship to John Arthur Shields is also unknown. Was Joseph a father or brother? Are John Arthur Shields and Joseph Shields related to Wiley/Willey Shields or any other SHIELDS family in Darke Co., OH.
