Since Jacob OSWALT and Catherine STOVER OSWALT and children are not on 1830 census for Darke County, my assumption is that they migrated from PA after 1830 and, of course, died before the 1840 census. Later documents show connections to the STOVER-OSWALT lines in Mifflin and Centre Counties, PA.

William OSWALT's line is well documented in OH, and there is moderate documentation for David in PA. I suspect Jacob and Catherine migrated to Darke County with family, i.e. Andrew Bickell and/or neighbors in PA and that perhaps some of the older children returned there when they were orphaned. I am interested in why Jacob and Catherine died so young and so close in time. Was there an epidemic of some kind, or did Jacob meet with an accident? With nine children so close in age, it is understandanble that Catherine may not have been able to cope after his death.

Any information or enlightenment about Darke County history at this time would be received gratefully.
