Young m.Sowers, Engle, Robbins, Armacost

I am seeking more information on Hannah YOUNG and her husbands and children.

Here is all I had from family tradition until recently: Hannah B. YOUNG was daughter of John Young; she married (Saul?) ENGLE. Their son Silas Peter Engle b. 6 Nov 1842 is our ancestor (see more info below on him). Hannah was married and widowed up to 4 or 5 times; her last husband was an Armacost (possibly William).

I have since gleaned new information from web searches and some correspondence with Young descendants: Hannah was born abt 1819 in PA, daughter of John YOUNG & Rebecca BRITTON of Darke Co. OH. (I have more on Young's.). In searching the web, I have come up with this sequence of probable husbands and possible children for Hannah. If anyone has information which can confirm or deny any of this, please let me know! We have no original sources of information, just a brief writeup from 1973.

Hannah YOUNG:
- - - - - -
M.1 to SOWERS, probably around 1835 when Hannah was probably about 16. (Died bef 1839?) (also see below for M.2)

Probable/possible children, with supporting data:

i. William Thomas SOWERS, b. ca 1836
[1850 census: Hannah Engle head of household, children include William Thomas SOURS/Thomas SOWERS, age 14 - who is listed both under Hannah Engle and under grandfather John Young]

ii. (possible: Mariah SOWERS, b. ca. 1838)
[1850 census: David Byers & Margaret Byers household lists Mariah SOWERS age 12 and Isac Byers age 14 -- these are the only Sowers names found in the Darke Co 1850 census index, which lead me to believe that perhaps Mariah Sowers is also Hannah's child, based on Mariah being a somewhat unusual name, and Mariah Young is Hannah's older sister, and on birth date fitting into sequence.]
[Miami Valley Genealogical Index, on Darke Co OH website: "Margaret Sowers" m. 1833 Montgomery Co. to "Michael Houtz"; "Margaret Sowers" m. 1842 Preble Co to "David Biers"; LDS website shows Margaret Sowers m. David Biers 20 Oct 1842 Preble, Ohio. (LDS record Source: links to listing of (book?) Preble County Ohio Marriages 1808-1859). If this David Biers is the same as the census David Byers, then a blood relationship to Mariah Sowers seems reasonable and may support my theory; if not - who knows! The Miami...Index lists quite a few Sowers, so Mariah could be related to another Sowers if this Bier * Byers.]
- - - - - -
M.2 to Peter ENGLE in 1839, Montgomery Co. OH. (Died by 1850 census, probably between 1845-1849; from family tradition and information, we know he died and that she remarried twice after that.)
[Miami Valley Gen. Index: "Peter Engle" married "Hannah Sowrs" in 1839 in Mt Co] We had the name Saul Engle as Hannah's husband, but I have not found anything confirming this. This "official" marriage listing seems to confirm that SOWERS was Hannah's first husband.]

Children: [1850 census lists Eliza Jane Engle age 10, Silas Peter Engle age 8, Rebecca Engle age 5 under Hannah Engle, head of household]

iii. Eliza Jane ENGLE, b. ca 1840 Seeking more information.

iv. Silas Peter ENGLE, b. 6 Nov 1842, on a farm near Ithaca, Darke Co, OH; d. 27 Dec 1927 Indianapolis IN. Served in Civil War 1861-1865 in G Co, 44 Reg, Ohio Infantry and G Co, 8 Reg, Ohio Cavalry. Married in Harrisville IN on 11 Mar 1868 to Martha Jane Keister at her home (military record showed 11 Mar 1869). They lived in Union City, IN. He was railroad conductor for C C C & St. L (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and St. Louis). They had two children: Walter Clarence Engle (1869-1947) who was married twice and had no children; and Frank Willard Engle (1874-1957) who had only one child, Thelburn LaRoy Engle (1901-1994) who married Eleanor Anna Sawdon. They had three sons, Charles, John, and William. T.L. & Eleanor also had 4 grand-daughters. At one time Silas stated "all my brothers are dead" -- which may indicate more than two brothers? All this information from 1973 writeup by T.L. "Roy" Engle and from personal knowledge. (Apparently Silas did not want to even try to keep track of all his mother's marriages and children, so we have no written records of any of them.)

v. Rebecca Engle, b ca 1845 Seeking more information.

M.3 (probable: to Isaac ROBBINS) (Died by 1857?)
[LDS record: Isaac ROBBINS, Spouse Hannah YOUNG, Marriage: 28 Feb 1852 Darke, Ohio]

Probable/possible children, with supporting data:

vi. (Isaac ROBBINS - probable) (LDS record: Birth: 1854 Darke, Ohio; Parents: Father: ROBBINS, Mother: Mrs. Hannah ROBBINS [Source: Film No.1985644])

vii. (Daniel ROBBINS - possible; conjecture based solely on birth date and location:) (LDS record: Birth: 1855 Darke, Ohio; Parents: (none listed) [Source: Film No. 2034447] )
- - - - - -
M.4 (probable: to William H. M. ARMACOST)
Hannah last married to (William?) ARMACOST, according to family tradition.
(LDS record: William H. M. ARMACOST; Spouse: Mrs. Hannah ROBBINS; Marriage: 5 Mar 1857, Darke, Ohio [Source: Film No.1903676]) Another LDS record, same date, to Hannah Young.

I have not found indication of children, although it is possible. In 1850 census, William Armacost and Elizabeth Armacost (wife? sister?) lived next door to Isaac Young, Isaac probably being a close relative of John Young, Hannah's father.
