During the time that your g grandfather was born, registration of births was not required. My gg grandmother was born in 1854 in Cleveland, and her birth was not registered. I did find her christening the the church registers. Depending on where your g grandfather lived and what his religion was, you can determine the church. If he was catholic, you can write the the archives of the Cleveland Catholic Diocese for help.
I did find an obit for a Benjamin Amos Butler, wife Celia, died in 1923, 71 yrs old. He lived on e 22nd street.
