It has been about 25 years since I went there, and the neighborhood looked pretty rough at the time. Generally run down, with boarded up houses, but on the other hand, many of the houses looked well maintained, with nice yards and lawns. My guess is that home owners that live there are still proud of their homes. Absentee owners that rent the homes tend to let them go, just like anywhere else. That being said, I would not hesitate to go back if I were in the area. Calvary itself is beautiful, and I would feel safe on the grounds. I wouldn't plan on stopping for lunch in the area, and I would make my visit as early in the day as possible.
