Saying someone is from "near" X makes things rather vague. Danzig is "near" Marienburg and so is Deutsch Eylau but the two are about 80 miles apart. If you don't know much about two individuals with the same name but you can show they come from the same place EXACTLY you have a good arguement for a family relationship.
I know of a Reikowski women who came to Cleveland from West Prussia. But if your Reikowskis and mine didn't live within 10 miles of each other there's not much chance of a link.
