Wm F. Sherman, b. 2 May 1865, Cleveland

After 15 years of genealogical pursuit, my mother gave me a little slip of paper with my great-grandfather's birthdate and birthplace, filled out by my grandfather, with feigned amazement that she hadn't given it to me before!

Any ties? Any idea where I can verify this?

WILLIAM FRANCIS SHERMAN, born Cleveland, Ohio, 2 May 1865. Married MAY ELLEN CARRINGTON, date & place unknown, born 17 Feb 1866, supposedly in Ireland.

Family legend has it that he was an engineer (construction type) for a New York Railroad and was helping to construct the rail line through Florida when my grandfather was born in Tampa in 1891.

For all the information I have on this (and other familys in my line) please see my webpage:

Thanks for any help!!
