Margaret died in Ohio in 1886. This information comes from a book entitled History of San Luis Obispo County and Environs, California. It was published in 1917. It includes a biographical sketch of Taylor S. Melchior. The discussion of Taylor says that his mother and father were born in Pennsylvania. His father then settled in Ohio as a carpenter and builder. Jacob S. Melchior in 1861 joined Company H, 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He served three years until captured in 1864 and sent to Andersonville Confederate Prison where he died.
