After a 45 year search for my G-Grandfather William S. Wilson’s Roots, I have been led to Coshocton County, Ohio, Mary Jane Norris and Spencer H. Fry families.
William S, Wilson was born in Ohio in March of 1826. I’ve always known that my
G-Grandmother was “Lucinda Frye” Born in Ohio in May 1836. Where in Ohio remains Unknown. They married and migrated or migrated and married (abt 1855), to Decatur County, Iowa their first 5 of 8 children were born there the first being in 1857, then came the Civil War, and after words they moved to Livingston County, Illinois and had their last 3 children, they then moved to Greenwood County Kansas and then to Sumner County Kansas where they were supposed to have died and are buried there. 90% of what I do know was from Census Research. In the 1900 Census Lucinda (Frey) Wilson stated that her mother came from Maryland, and her father came from New York, William stated both his parents came from Ohio. What I’ve been able to find out is Mary Jane Norris b. 30 May 1811 (this date was revised to 1793) was born in Washington County, Maryland. She married Spencer H. Fry 6 Nov 1821. To them were born 12 or 13 children, of which one was “Lucinda” it looks like 5 or 6 of their children died in 1850 (must have been an epidemic) one report I’ve seen shows Lucinda as one of these children, other information shows Lucinda had NOT died. Another report shows that Lucinda died btw 1920 – 1930 in North Benton (Buffalo) Dallas County, Missouri; this could be possible as I have no death info on them in Kansas. Note: when my Grandfather applied for a marriage license he spelled the name of his mother as “Lucinda Frye” Can Anyone Help?
I’ll post this in Coshocton County, Norris, Wilson and Fry Forum’s
Edwyn J. Wilson
