Thomas Williamson Wells, a son of Charles Dorsey Wells, and a native of Washington Co., PA, had two wives named Cleland (perhaps Clealand). I assume they were sisters. His first wife, Eleanor Cleland must have married him shortly before 1829, and may have married him in PA or OH. She mothered all of his children, but disappeared from the scene coincident with the appearance of their last child, Francis, (Frank), Wells in December of 1841 in Harrison Co., OH. Three years later, Thomas married Jane Cleland,24 Nov 1844. He returned to Harrison Co., OH, and not long where they lived til after 1850. Jane, who the census says was born in PA, raised the children whose names were; John C., William W., Jane, Louisa, Eleanor and Frances. I need information regarding the Cleland ancestry of Eleanor and Jane.
