Jane Palmer b. 7/12/1811 OH m. Charles McHugh in 1831
Does anyone have information on a Jane Palmer, born 7/12/1811 in Ohio (assume Columbiana county or nearby), who married Charles McHugh on Jan. 4, 1831 in Columbiana County? By 1850, Jane and Charles migrated to Salt Creek Twp., Decatur Co., IN.
Children (known) were: William (b. OH, 1835-1837), Margaret (b. OH, Sept. 1839), David (b. OH, 1845), Catharine (b. OH, Dec. 1847), James and Ira. There may also have been a Sarah, b. abt. 1832 - listed last in household in 1850 census, classified as an "idiot".
Other Columbiana Co. families who also migrated to the Salt Creek Twp., Decatur Co and Ray Twp., Franklin Co. area (neighboring townships) were Parmer, Moody and Shouse. These families were definitely intermarried.
I'm confused whether the Palmer and Parmer families are the same lines or if they were two distinct families who lived in Columbiana Co. 1850 census information points to Virginia as the birthplace of a Jesse Parmer b. 1788.
In the 1850 census, next to the Shouse household in Franklin Co., IN, I did find the household of a Joseph Palmer, age 50 (b. OH, 1800) with a wife named Ruth. Looking at marriage records in Columbiana Co., I found the marriage of a Joseph Palmer and Phebe Moody on Aug. 6, 1829 - not sure if Phebe and Ruth are the same person - however, the ages of the listed children in the census support a marriage date of 1829. I'm not sure if Joseph Palmer is related to Jane Palmer, though evidence points in that direction.
Can anyone help?
