Clinton County was formed in 1810 from Highland & Warren Counties.
1810 Clinton Co Tax List has the following Wright's -
Israel, in Chester twp.
James, in Chester twp.
John, in Richland twp.
Jonathon, in Chester twp.
Israel Wright purchased his property in 1806 which was originally a part of Virginia Military Tract Land granted to Gen. Horatio Gates for his service, (12500 acres). Gen. Gates sold it to his son in law, Dr James Murray who deeded it to numerous settlers between the years 1803-1825.
