This might be a bit of a stretch but Peter Lieurance, who was a very early settler in Clinton County, was married to a Goode. He was a died in the wool Baptist so I would guess that if they were Irish Catholics there was no connection. There is one genealogy for Peter and wife on the Family Tree Maker site (Descendants of Margaret Lawrance [Lawrence?]) which I believe to be accurate even though it differs considerably from the "accepted" line for Peter Lieurance. You might want to check it out; I think there might have been a couple of other Goodes in it. I haven't looked at it for some time.
