MARY MELVINA HINES was born in Blanchester, Clinton County, Ohio,
October 25, l848, and died of heart failure at her home in Leon, Iowa,
Sunday, September lst, l9l8, at the age of 69 years, ten months and five
days.
She was married to WILLIAM HINES January l5, l864.To this union four
children were born: JAMES, of Grand River, Iowa; MRS. ADA GAMMON, of
Leon, Iowa; MRS. ELSIE GAMMON, of Garden Grove; and W.C. HINES, of
Council Bluffs.She was converted and joined the Christian Church of
Eden Prairie, Iowa, 29 years ago and has lived a Christian life ever
since.She came with her husband to this county in l879, and has since
made this her home.They were married 54 years ago and were ever ready
to lend a helping hand.
For some time past, MOTHER HINES has been in very poor health.Her
relatives and friends did all in their power to relieve her suffering
but to no avail and death came as a relief.She leaves to mourn her
loss a husband, four children, seven grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and a host of other relatives
and friends.Funeral was conducted by Rev. Esch and Rev. Flannery at
the Christian Church on Tuesday, September 3rd.
