I don't know if it will help you at all, but I have seen an Ellison Hite living with the Richard Applegate family as a laborer on the 1860 Cleremont Co. OH census. He's listed as "insane" which I guess could mean senile dementia at that time. Have often wondered if he was related to that family. The Trout name has also popped up a lot in my search through Clermont County/Clinton County, Ohio to Clinton County Indiana.
