Hurst and Wheeler in Ohio
Hello
I am looking for info for my Hursts and Wheelers that were in Ohio, Sotuh West area, Highland Co. and Clermont Co. and maybe Brown Co. Looking for info to go farther back in history.
Meshack Hurst married Mary Wheeler 21 Nov 1834 Highland Co. Ohio.
Mary Wheeler was born in New York, abt 1817.
Meshack b 1812 had a brother named John Hurst b 1803 Clermont Co., also possibly another brother named "Bennett"?
Meshack sold land together with the Wheeler siblings, and a David Jewett, husband of Sarah Ann Wheeler.
My Hurst family moved on to Illinois, Franklin Co. Williamson Co. Clay Co.
Below is the sale of land listed.
From "Records of the Recorder's Office, Highland County, Ohio (1805-1850)" by Mc Bride, page 273:
26 Sep 1838. Susannah and Rachel Wheeler, Mashack Hurst and h/w Mary, David Jewett and Sarah Ann, h/w of Highland County, to Rees Thomas of Adams Co., Ohio, 22 acrs and 6 poles. Jewett and wife acknowledged deed in Fayette County, Ohio. (It seems the Jewetts may have lived in Highland but moved to Fayette by the time the deal was final. McBride's marriage records has David Juett married Sarah Ann Wheeler 13 Mar 1838 by Benson Goldsberry (a minister in Fairfirld Twp.).
1850 census Clay Co, IL shows:
