I am looking for Thomas Goldsworth.
Born: between 1807 and 1815, though I think the 1815 date is more likely as it matches with the earliest census data.

Where: Clermont County, Ohio.

He doesn't show up anywhere until 1850, where he shows up in Rushville Indiana, and 1 month later he's on the census again in Somerset, Grant County, Indiana. He is with the Sharp family in both cases, so I'm sure it is the same Thomas.

Census records for some of his children show they believed their father was born in Kentucky. The Sharp(e) family he is with was from Kentucky. I've traced their grandfather's census records and there is an extra boy, of the right age range, from 1820 to 1840. Grandfather Sharp died in 1849 and Thomas shows up in Indiana in 1850. I have a copy of Grandfather Sharp's will, but no mention of Thomas.

The story is that Thomas' entire family died in a boating accident. There were 2 brothers and their families.

I have not had much luck finding information on boating accidents around 1815 to 1820 in the Ohio/Kentucky area.

Since I don't have a good date for the accident, I don't know when to start looking in Guardianship records in Kentucky.

I tried to hire 3 different genealogists to research the
guardianship records, but none of them responded.

I know Thomas joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1850. I've contacted the Somerset and Rushville churches and they don't have records going back that far. They sent me to Depaul? University, but they don't have the records either.

Any ideas?

I'll be happy to help each of you too!
