Janet, so happy you responded to my old message. Here is what I have and why I was inquiring about Ruth Hess. Ruth Hess b. 2/17/1902, Champaign Co., OH. daughter of Jasper Newton Hess and Emma Mae Spellman. She married Jesse D. Stafford 9/26/1918 in Champaign Co., OH. They are listed in the 1920 census living in Cambridge City, IN. No children listed. Ruth's siblings were Jonathan, Raymond, Elza & Cora. I found Ruth & Frank Harkins in Springfield, OH in the 1930 census. Jesse married Leota Harwood in Dec. 1921. Jesse & Leota were my in-laws. Nobody in the family seemed to know what happened to Jesse & Ruth. I haven't found a divorce record. Ruth is in a couple of family groups of the Stafford family and I also have a copy of a picture of Jesse & Ruth taken in Urbana, Ohio. The stranges thing about this was that my husband and his 2 sisters did not know about Jesse's first wife until after the deaths of both their parents. That was when she was found in the family group pictures. I also have a small ring & locket that has her initials engraved on them.
Where in Indiana do you live? We were from Greenfield, IN, but have lived out here in AZ since 1969.
Would like to hear from you. Janice Stafford
