I agree that Samuel and James were related. I have read biographies of Samuel and Presley Hutton who both were in Champaign County early yet I find no census in that county for a Hutton until 1830. My connections is John Hutton who was there at least from 1823 to 1831.(1830 census) The missing link may be the fathers of James, Samuel, Presley and John.
Another link is in the adjacent county, Clark. John Hutton, son of Joseph and Sarah, lived there about 20 years. He died in 1850. He was born in Loudon county, VA., went to Fayette or Beaver county PA before coming to Ohio. This Hutton line was Quaker and came from Ireland in the early 1700s. I believe they are all related.
There are two other Huttens in Clark County census, John and Joseph, but my contact in that county has never found anything about them.
Thanks for your input. John Hutton has been our brick wall for a long time and we are interested in ANY Hutton in the area.
