The following obituary appeared in the “Primitive Monitor and Church Advocate: In the Interest of the Primitive Baptists,” Vol. 13, No. 9, September 1898, edited by R. W. THOMPSON, Greenfield, IN, p. 432:

"Edna Estella COLLINS, youngest daughter of Chas. K. and Ollie Estella COLLINS, entered upon this discharge of the duties of her earthly career June 10, 1895, and answered the summons of her Creator Nov. 13, 1897, having arrived at the age of 2 years, 5 months, and 3 days. She was stricken with a complication of diseases of the throat, which eventually developed into tonsilitis, and finally into membraneous croup, which was deemed the immediate cause of her death. Her sufferings were of the most agonizing character, except the last few hours which seemed to be perfectly calm and serene, she having passed off in a quiet sleep. Although but a little tot, she will be sadly missed in the household, but we trust we may all meet upon the golden threshold of eternity, and realize that “there’ll be no more sorrow there.” The funeral took place from the Nettle Creek church house, where a discourse was delivered by Elder T. C. WILLIAMS, from a portion of the 12th chapter of 2nd Samuel, “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” [Submitted by] a friend."

Circulation of this periodical was regional, so Nettle Creek is not necessarily in Indiana. It may be the church of this name in Champaign Co, OH. See the following references:

I am not related to this family - this publication is among some materials in my files. Hope this is of help to someone. John Mallory Land <>
