I can tell you something about the EDWARDS family starting
with James Edwards. First, there is a problem with much of what has been written about the Edwards family because
of the scam that has been worked on Edwards concerning a
supposed claim to some New York real estate. James Edwards
was Christened 6 May 1727, Parish of Midmar, Aberdeenshire,
Scotland. His parents were William Edward and Helen Law.
(You can find that information in the LDS Family Search
data base.) He was transported in 1740 to Virginia to be
sold as a bond servant to Rev. James Keith. Eventually
he was able to purchase land on Sandy Run in SW Fairfax
County. He married Sarah Jacobs, quite possibly a neighbor's daughter. Children: Eleanor Laws Edwards b 1756; William Edwards; Jacob Edwards; Robert Edwards;
Alexander Edwards; Nancy Edwards; James Edwards; Jane
Edwards, George Edwards b 3 Jan 1772 and John Edwards.
James Edwards brought his family to Mason County, KY
in about 1785 and later purchased land across the Ohio
River in Brown County. That includes the site of the
villiage of Aberdeen, OH. There is good information about
the early history of the Edwards and Reid families on
the West family GenForum.
