Posted by: Neil Hall (ID *****5771) Date: May 20, 2004 at 03:14:12
  of 1086

Looking for info on birth, parents, marriage, and children of Adam Carr, and of his wife. According to family tradition Adam was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, son of Scotch-Irish parents. His tombstone in Iroquois, Illinois puts his birth about 1790. Adam married Rebecca Galbreath who was born about 1797 according to her tombstone.

Adamís family appears in Pleasant township, Brown County, Ohio in 1820 where he has 2 sons and 2 daughters under 10, while he and his wife are both over 26.

Adam moved to Iroquois county, Illinois in 1833, and appears there on the 1840 census, with his son Robert living next door.

Probable children of this couple are Robert, John, Harvey, Elijah, Ruth, Francis, and Narcissa. Family tradition says there were eight children.

After moving to Illinois the spelling of the name changed to Karr.
