Seeking parents of brothers born Ripley, Union Twp, Brown co., Ohio:
Joseph D. PORTER b abt 1834, d 7 Dec 1862 Battle of Hartsville, TN.
Samuel A. PORTER b 7 Jul 1839, d 21 Apr 1880, Boston, MA.
Both brothers resided Tonica, LaSalle, IL in 1862 when they enlisted in the Civil War, but no Porters in the Tonica 1860 census.

Joseph D. PORTER (gg-grandfather) married 1855 Putnam county, IL Sarah BASCOM (dau of Aaron Bascom and Sarah Keeler). Children b 1856-1863: Kate Evans Porter, Nettie Bascom Porter, Justin Bascom Porter and Joseph Duncan Porter.

I find the following family in the Union Twp, Brown, Ohio 1850 census, but can't be certain it is a match:
PORTER, Samuel 47MW, PA, lumber merchant
Jane 44FW, OH
James W. 20MW, OH, boat builder
Joseph P. 17MW, OH, boat builder
Mary J. 15FW, OH
Samuel 12MW, OH
Sarah M. 8FW, OH
Leonora 5FW, OH
Campbell, Harriett 23FW, OH

Hope someone recognizes this family. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
