Charles,
There was a fairly massive immigration from Ficarra (as well as Brolo, Naso, and surrounding communities) to Bellaire, Ohio (and neighboring communities) in the early 1900s.A visit to the Italian cemetary in Bellaire and a visit to the cemetary in Ficarra reveals a great overlap in surnames.
You probably know that the busacca and the busack family are one in the same. One line that I know about: Guiseppe Busacca maried Rosa Imbroscio (both from Ficarra). They both emigrated around 1908 (although I am not sure if they were married in Ficarra or here.)Rosa was my grandfather's sister. They had a small grocery store in the Italian neighborhood in Bellaire (Washington street area). They had eight (I believe) children, and many still live in Bellaire.
The Gulla family is also a fairly big family in Bellaire. Most people know them from "Gulla's Lunch", a hot dog restaurant on Belmont Street in Bellaire that has been in operation since the 1920s.A third generation of Gullas now run the restaurant. There are many Gatto's as well.
Ficarra is a beautiful village and I would highly recommend that you visit. The people are very friendly and the views breathtaking.
Good luck.
