I hope the bible records are in many different hands...those that appear to be done by the same hand are an indication that someone, later, decided to fill things in...and, often there are mistakes. When each generation is done by a different hand you can be fairly sure that things were entered at the time of the event. Those in different hands area actually acceptable as documentation for many genealogical organizations...those in just a few hands, aren't.
A good many folks seemed to end up in Belmont, from Loudoun Co, Va...I've always wondered if there was a particular reason for it, as I have family that supposedly started out in Loudoun, although I've not been able to document it. People usually crossed the Ohio River from Ohio County, now Wheeling(W)Va, as there is an island there, in the Ohio, and early on there was a ferry that crossed from the VA shore, to the island, and another that crossed from the island to Ohio....that took you right into Belmont Co. This was the place most crossed the Ohio. The National Road was around by then and that was the route many took to and then on through Ohio. It is still in existence - US RT 40. Take a look at a map and figure, from Loudoun Co, if that wouldn't have been a viable route..it was our FIRST National Highway, and settlers kept the road hot, emigrating into Ohio and then westward from there!
