Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Social Security Death Index should have exact date, then check for obit

There is a Social Security Death Index at this website:

http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi

You can use it to learn about his exact death date, I believe. Then you could contact the newspapers from this area and ask them to search for an obit shortly after the date.

Here are a couple of the main newspapers for the area:

http://theintelligencer.net/
http://hsconnect.com/

Good luck with this!
