Just a note to let you know that I rechecked my records and discovered that I was mistaken when I said that Matthew Patton purchased land in Belmont County in 1805. In fact, the land was in Jefferson County and was purchased from a Bazeleel Wells (who laid out Steubenville). Matthew is shown on the deed as a Belmont County resident.

Matthew also purchased property in 1808 that seems to be adjacent to above mentioned propery but this land is in Belmont County.

This is probably more information than you wanted to know! Thanks again.
