Thank you for the reply. Frankly, I'm not sure about those tax records -- I've seen them too. I have a copy of the deed showing the Matthew Patton land purchase in April 1805. Both Matthew and David (among others) are buried in the Patton family cemetery which is located at Pattons Run just north of Matins Ferry in a residents backyard. Many Pattons in this area, as you say, but I've been able to find quite abit of info re the David Patton line over several generatioins --but not all. Thanks again.
