The way it works at the FHC is that you go in and order the films that you wish to view, and pay for them in advance...it's usually around $3.50/film for a month rental. Then, when the films arrive, they call you to tell you they're in, and you then have your month to go back and view them.
To save yourseslf a trip, do the following. Go to the online site for the LDS (latter day Saints) and do a place search. This will give you a menu that contains ALL the films that they have on the area you're interested in. Then, write down the film #s. Call the FHC and ask them if you can order the films you want by sending them the film #s and money for each. IF they agree, make up your list and send the required money for each film + a few self addressed stamped postcards....this will enable them to let you know, by mail, when your films are in.
In this way, you will be saved a visit to simply look up the films and order them.....no senses taking off a day for this.
This is the site that contains the Place Search on the LDS site... http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
