The CENTENNILA HISTORY OF BELMONT COUNTY, by MeKelvey, has quite a few mentions of Gladden, but only one of a Gladman..that of John Gladdman, who served as a Pt, in Co D of the 170 Regt, Ohio National Guards, organized in 1864 to served 100 days.
There was a James Gladden who lived in Smith twp and was married to Elizabeth Scatterday...(she outlived him)..this appears to have been in the 1830s.
A john Gladden was a member and elder of the Concord PResbyterian Church at Centreville...sometime after 1850.
Margaret, dau of Wm Granfell married james Gladdin, of smith twp...this looks to have been in the mid 1800s.
