I'm afraid I can't help you much with the Paxtons but can hazard a guess as to why they came to Ohio - land. By this timeframe, there wasn't land for the taking left in VA, and thus folks had to emigrate to the edges of new world, which in the early 1800s was Ohio. I looked in theCENTENNIAL HISTORY OF BELMONT CO, for your folks and while I found Paxtons, none with your given names... I also have a good many Jeff. Co burial records, but none contain the name Paxton... I have the 1806 and 1810 Jeff and Belmont Co tax record, and no Paxtons included. There were the following; Thomas Paxton 1810 Cleremont co
John Paxton 1814 Geauga Co
John Paxton 1816 Cadiz twp, Harrison Co
John Paxton 1815 Wheatsborough twp Huron Co
Nathaniel Paxton 1825 Wayne Co
Thomas 1806 Clermont Co
Samuel Paxton 1825 Guernsey co
