MATILDA LEMMAX died at her home in Eden Township, May 27, l897, and was born Jan. l6, l825, in Belmont County, Ohio.

MATILDA A. GANT was married to WILLIAM LEMMAX, Dec. 26, l844. To them were born 7 children, two of them and the husband having preceded her to the haven of rest where parting is no more. She united with the Methodist Church at the age of l6 and lived and taught her children the way of truth and right.

The services were at the residence, conducted by Rev. G.M. hughes, after which she was followed to the Leon Cemetery by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives, where she was laid to rest by the side of her husband.

Though sadly we miss you,
From your bed of pain,
We could not call you back
To earth's afflictions again.

The Lord has claimed you dear mother
And called you to your home,
So we will wait a little while
Then meet you at the throne.
