The Frizzells are a very old Maryland family, originally found in Anne Arundel County in the 1600's when the the first Puritan settlers came up from Virginia to the area around Annapolis. William Frizzel arrived in 1649. Donna Valley Russell's book, "First Families of Anne Arundel County, Maryland 1649-1658, Volume I the Landowners" details him. I am doing a webpage study on William Pennington, also one of the settlers, at my American Crossroads site at Rootsweb: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~amxroads/wmaa/index.html
More specifically, on the Frizzels who went to Kirkwood township -- I believe they came from the Delaware Upper Hundred in that part of Baltimore County that became Carroll County. There is an area called Frizzelburg there. My Pennington family lived in Kirkwood twp too, and came from the Delaware Upper Hundred after the War of 1812 in which my ancestor John Pennington served along with a putative brother Jesse Pennington. They both lived in Kirkwood and along with a Richard, Allen and William Pennington whom I believe are also siblings. There are two John Penningtons listed on the 1820 census, and it seems likely that one is the father of the rest, who are younger.

Many other families in the Sewellsville locale (also some in Guernsey county) including the Marshes, Millers, Davises, Sikes(Sykes), Sewell, had interconnection among one another, seemingly from Maryland as well. My John Pennington married Sally Davis, Jesse Pennington married Elizabeth Sears, Richard married Sarah Marsh. A Joshua may have also been another brother, although there was a Joshua in the Quaker/Warren twp family also.

Abstract of Belmont County Chancery Book 2, p. 355 Petition for sale of real estate. "Thomas Miller, admr of George Miller deceased; suit filed June term 1830 vs. heirs of said Miller. Petition to sell land in Kirkwood twp SE1/4 f S.34, T.7, R.6, 134 ac by patent to said decedent. Heirs are petitioner, Rebecca intermarried with Wm. Frizzle, Micha, intermarried with Daniel Shipley, Rachel intermarried with Zachariah Marsh, Elizabeth intermarried with Henry Gregory and Sarah intermarried with Edward Marsh, all of whom reside in the said co of Belmont.
p.531 same estate, petitions for authorization to make deed to Susannah Sikes, March term 1832. George Miller covenanted to deed property to Susannah Sikes but died before deed was made. Susannah was to pay $14 before 1828, but she is dead too and Phillip Sikes of Guernsey Co saith that the whole amount of the purchase money was paid . . . he also paid George Miller 1 barrel of whiskey for a certain lot adjoining the other 3 acres. Heirs are same except Edward Marsh and Sarah live in Guernsey Co."
There were three Pennington entities in Belmont County, mine from Baltimore County, as detailed here. Quaker descendants of Amos Pennington, son of Daniel Pennington of Pennsylvania and Maryland, who lived in Richland and Warren twps in Belmont County, and a third family of a Jesse, Miller and Hiram who lived Richland twp, and who came from Lancaster County, PA. The Barnes family that established Barnesville was also from Maryland.
I believe a Loveless (Lovelace) Pennington enumerated with John Harbin's (possibly Harden/Hardin) family on the 1850 Washington twp, Harrison County census is likely my ancestor Marion Lovelace Pennington, son of John, and was miswritten as a female. There are Selby children enumerated here, and John Pennington married (2)in Johnson County, IA to Elizabeth Selby. Harden is also a Carroll County surname, and Selby is another Maryland Puritan surname. I have more details on the families of Jesse and John, and other webpages which outline the Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania Penningtons.
I hope this is helpful to you. I'm interested in hearing from you and with any other searchers on these families, particularly those with whom I've lost contact due to moves and loss of computer files.
