Jacob ELSASS 1870 Census & 1910 Census

One would guess that there might be a connection between these names as ELSASS is German for Alsace now in France and ELSASSER would be a person from Alsace. Possibly, as persons migrated they shortened the name by dropping the "er". Here is an ELSASS family I found in the 1870 US Census for Clay Twship, AuGlaize county, Ohio.
Series: M593 Roll: 1172 Page:313 line:14
ELSASS, Jacob, 32 m,w, farmer born Ohio
ELSASS, Mary, 22, f,w, keep house, Ohio
ELSASS, William E., 3, m,w, at home, Ohio
ELSASS, Anne, 1, f,w, at home, Ohio

Then in the 1910 Census same township and county, we find Jacob and family yet again.
ED 49, SD3, Sheet 10B line:97
ELSASS, Jacob, head, m,w, 71, M1,44, Ohio, France/Germ France/German own income
ELSASS, Mary M, wife, f,w, 61,M1, 44, 13/11, Ohio, Germany/German
ELSASS, Mary, daug, f,w, 24, s, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
Notes: M1 # of marriages; 44--yrs married 13/11--number of children/number living locations are birth of self, and parents.
Then on line 94 above Jacob ELSASS is
ELSASS, Michael P.,head, m,w, 33, M1, ?, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, farmer, general farming
ELSASS, Christina, wife, f,w, 27, M1, ? Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
ELSASS, Eamon (?) E., son, m,w, 4, Ohio, Ohio, Ohio

Other ELSASS families in Clay Township
were headed by the following names and could be children of Jacob and Mary ELSASS:
Christian ELSASS, 28
John L. ELSASS, 29
Samuel ELSASS, 27

There were still other ELSASS families in other places in OHIO in 1910. Hope this is helpful, let me know.
