I would check the old West State Street Cemetery, Athens, Ohio... In Pioneer Families of the Midwest, Blanche L. Walden, Ann Arbor, Mich., Edwards Bros. 1990, there is information regarding the William Harper (of Harper's Ferry fame) family. It states:
"After looking over the field, William Harper decided to located one mile west of the present site of Athens, on the opposite bank of the river and there establish a ferry.
Isaac Barker Sr. likewise built his cabin there, but on the north bank of the Hock-Hocking."
Both William Harper and his wife are buried at the old West State Street Cemetery.Of their children, Isabelle Harper (1780-1854) married Apr. 1, 1801 Michael Barker (b. Nov. 4, 1775 and d. June 10, 1857), the eldest son of Captain Isaac Barker and his wife Rhoda (Cook) Barker. They lived many years opposite the present location of the West Union Street Cemetery.Another daughter, Christiana Harper (1783-1837) married April 10, 1804 Isaac Barker Jr. (son of Capt. Isaac and Rhoda Barker). He became a very prominent citizen serving as county sheriff, collector of rents for the Ohio University, councilman of Athens, treasurer of Athens County and common pleas judge. He was also one of the early innkeepers of the town of Athens.Sorrow was a frequent guest in the Barker home as the long row of little graves in the West State Street Cemetery attests.Christiana Harper Barker died Oct. 14, 1837 and is buried, as is many another pioneer mother, with her babies.Isaac Barker died Mar. 30, 1873 aged 94 years.
