Carpenter

Rev. George C. Carpenter, 83, a resident of Miami, Fla., and formerly of Grant Street, died unexpectedly at 8 a.m. Monday in his home.

The son of Channcy and Mary Greiner Carpenter he was born Dec. 23, 1877, in Indiana.

He was married June 28, 1905, to Iscia Worst, who survives. Also surviving is a brother, A. Glenn Carpenter of Ashland.

Rev. Carpenter served pastorates in Warsaw and Peru, Ind., Hagerstown, Md., and at Smithville.

He was proceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

The deceased was a member of the Park Street Brethren Church, a former member of the Mission Board and a trustee at Ashland College.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Gilbert Funeral Home by Rev. Phil Lersch. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert Funeral Home.
